Meeting at the Door

Meeting at the Door is a pivotal aspect of Yokefellowship Prison Ministry where volunteers assist newly released returned citizens who don’t have family members or friends to pick them up when released from a correctional facility.

YPM volunteers pray with returning citizens, provide them with a meal, assist them in purchasing personal items and clothing and transport them to the facility or home where they will be staying.

Relationships are built and opportunities are formed to help volunteers be supportive of these returned citizens in the future.

By participating in meeting at the door, volunteers can offer a compassionate presence that can positively impact the lives of those leaving the criminal justice system.

How to get involved

To get involved in this meaningful ministry, potential volunteers can reach out to our Meeting at the Door Directors, Freddie and Sue Nole to inquire about training and other requirements.

If you are aware of an inmate who could be interested in the possibility of being assisted by the program, the inmate should write at least three months prior to their potential release date to Meeting at the Door, PO Box 86, Eagleville, PA 19408.

YPM’s Meeting at the Door program was recognized in June 2023 by the City of Philadelphia at the “Voice of Heroes” awards ceremony. The Office of Reentry Partnerships in collaboration with the Office of Violence Prevention, on behalf of the City of Philadelphia, had learned about this new initiative and acknowledged the work of YPM in supporting returned citizens. Freddie Nole, Meeting at the Door Co-Director, accepted the award and spoke on behalf of YPM.
